Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2019-20

A Taste of Kindergarten at McKenny – Wednesday, May 29th at 10:45am

New Family Registration for 1st – 5th Grades for the 2019-20 School Year

Registration for 1st – 5th grades for the 2019-20 school year has begun. Please bring your child’s Proof of Residency (current utility bill) and Birth Certificate. If you have neighbors with school age children, please let them know we are in the process of registering new students.

School Bike Challenge

The School Bike Challenge starts Wednesday May 1st and runs through May– 15th.  Last year we had over 60 students participate by riding their bike to school at least once during the challenge. All that is needed to participate is a bike and a helmet! The poster in the main hallway has mileage logs for students to track the miles they ride to school each day.  Students are responsible for keeping the log and will get a prize for participating when they turn in their riding log. All students who turn in their riding log will be entered in a raffle for other cool prizes like a bike helmet, a t-shirt, a bike bell, a bike tail light or water bottle. Please ask at the office for a Thurston County Bike Map, if you would like a resource showing bike friendly routes in Thurston County.

See you at the bike rack!

Ms. Lloyd

McKenny Wax Museum

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, June 12th 5:30 to 7:00pm for our McKenny Wax Museum. This is an evening to learn about people in history that have made a positive contribution. Please come "activate" the button for students to come alive as their historical figure.

Placement Consideration Form for 2019-20

Placement Consideration Forms are available in the office or on the McKenny website for placement for the 2019-20 school year. The Placement form is not used to request a specific teacher; we want to know about the student. The forms are due in the office no later than Friday, June 7th.

Volunteering for 2019-20 School Year

ALL Applications processed after May 17th, 2019 will have an expiration date of July 1, 2019. All applicants currently on file expire on July 1, 2019. Volunteers will need to renew their applications for the 2019-20 upcoming school year.

Student Meal Balances

End of the school year is fast approaching. Do you know your child's lunch account balance? All negative balances need to be paid in full by the end of the school year.

Spring Clothing

The warm weather is on its way (we are hopeful) so are the children’s desires to get into their spring and summer clothing. On warm days, children may wear shorts to school. We suggest that the shorts be mid-thigh in length, both for ease of movement and for comfort when sitting on plastic chairs. We ask that all clothing be appropriate for school and not a distraction to the learning environment or to other students. Clothing with drug or alcohol slogans, or violence-related clothing, are not considered appropriate for school. Also, students should avoid shirts showing bare midriffs and backs. We also strongly recommend that children not wear open-toed shoes or sandals to school because of the risk of injury to the feet on our busy playground.

Teacher Assignment will be Posted on Family Access for the 2019-20 School Year!
Remember to sign up for Family Access so you are able to view your child’s teacher assignment for the 2019-20 school year.
