Hawk Hangouts

National Walk and Bike to School Day - May 4th
We'd love to get as many students as possible involved in National Walk and Bike to school day on May 4th! Can you help lead a 'Walking Bus' route? Starting locations would include Ashwood Downs Apartments, Nottingham Neighborhood, and near the Fire Station off Boulevard. These walking bus routes will only happen if we have adult leaders. Fun Run Update
We had a very successful Fun Run bringing in $12,000 for McKenny! Thank you again for your support. We are starting our work to bring in a new piece of playground equipment to fill our empty space!

Principal's Corner
As we head into what looks to be a lovely Spring, a few different and brief topics come to mind that I would like to share with you.
Lost and Found. This is the time of the year that we tend to collect the most lost and found items. As the temperatures begin to rise, children often remove coats and sweatshirts during recess and then forget to pick them up when the bell rings. Two suggestions: 1.) Label coats and sweatshirts with the student’s name. 2.) Regularly check our lost and found rack near the main office.
Morning Drop-off. The work day for our supervisory staff begins at 8:15 and breakfast is available for students at 8:15. Please do not drop your students off in the morning until 8:15 or later. We simply do not have staff available at that time to supervise students for safety.
PTO Meetings. We have an amazing group of parents who lead our PTO. The group is absolutely wonderful, but it is small. We really need people to attend our PTO meetings to help discuss topics at the school, make decisions about activities and expenditures, and plan for events. Speaking of events, PTO is throwing a spring carnival on May 21. We will need new people to join our existing, dedicated volunteers in order to have a successful event. Please come to our next meeting on 4/12 at 6:30 in the library and via zoom.
