National Walk and Bike to School Day: May 4th

All students who walk or ride to school earn a prize. We will be chaperoning a “walking school bus” and a group bike ride to school. Both options leave from Ashwood Downs with stops along the way to McKenny. Both groups will have an Olympia Police Department community officer accompanying them. We are supervising the trip to school only, parents are responsible for supervision on the trip home, or for arranging transportation from school in the afternoon.
The walking group leaves Ashwood Downs at 7:40, the biking group leaves at 7:45. A skyward message and a flyer with the map and complete timetable has been sent home.

Kindergarten Registration for 2022-2023 School Year

Do you or someone you know have a child turning 5 years old on or before August 31, 2022? If so, please remember to register online for the 2022-2023 school year. For additional information please visit the Olympia School District website.

Are you interested in helping on the PTO Board next year? It is a great way to be connected, stay informed, and be a part of what is going on at McKenny. Board positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Volunteer Coordinator, and Parent-at-Large. Our next PTO meeting is coming up May 10th from 6:30-8:00 in the school library. We will have a special visit from Superintendent Patrick Murphy. He will be sharing about the balanced calendar and an equity initiative the district is working on. We will also be discussing Carnival and voting on Board Positions for the 2022-2023 school year. We hope to see you there!

Principal's Corner

Teacher Appreciation Week
Annually, during the first week of May, we celebrate our McKenny teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Every single day, I feel fortunate to work with and collaborate with such an amazing and dedicated group of educators. We truly are blessed at McKenny that our children are guided each day by caring, talented, energetic and creative teachers who challenge, entertain and nurture.

Please join me in honoring and celebrating our McKenny teachers. They are absolutely wonderful and we are so lucky.

Superintendent Visit
OSD Superintendent Patrick Murphy will be in attendance at our next PTO meeting on May 10th at 6:30. We will hold a hybrid meeting in our library with a zoom link provided for remote attendees. Superintendent Murphy will speak and answer questions about a variety of topics including balanced calendar exploration, the district budget, and health and safety. Please consider joining us for this meeting. Other topics include: the upcoming carnival, new playground equipment, and end of year activities.
