Thank you:

The 2023-2024 school year has definitely been one for the books! 44,782 minutes read for Read-A-Thon, 15 spooky trunks for Trunk or Treat, 4 exciting movie nights, 2 performances of Annie Jr with PNW Theater, 1 totally rad 90s themed Bingo night, and so much more that made this year full of magic! The PTO realizes it is only through the hard work and dedication of this community that we are able to host these events, so on behalf of the PTO please accept our gratitude for all the volunteer hours, donations and talents that you all shared with our wonderful school. This year truly exemplified how together we SOAR! We are looking forward to a fantastic 2024-2025 school year and wish everyone a restful summer break. To our Hawk families who are moving on from McKenny, we hope your time here has been filled with magic. We wish you and your students all the best in your future endeavors.

A message from PTO Co-President:

As we approach the close of another remarkable year, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your steadfast support of our cherished McKenny Community. Your dedication truly embodies the essence of McKenny Magic. Reflecting on the past year, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable contributions of each member of our community. Together, we have faced challenges with resilience and unity, navigating uncertainties and program adjustments with grace and determination. The collective effort and commitment have been nothing short of inspiring, and I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together. Looking ahead, I am excited to share that my journey with the McKenny PTO continues. I am honored to collaborate with Morgan Rydland as Co-Chairs of the PTO Theater Program, scheduled from April 7th to May 3rd, 2025, and to serve as a dedicated board member. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Your involvement is instrumental in shaping the vibrant community we cherish at McKenny.

Yours in gratitude,

Principals Corner

We are so grateful for all of the amazing parents, grandparents, older siblings and community members who have served at McKenny this year. A school runs most efficiently when we experience the support of volunteers in a variety of ways throughout a school year. 2023-24 at McKenny has been an incredible year in this area.

Here are some of the ways volunteers have supported students and staff members:

  • Helping out with projects and student tutoring
  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Making copies and preparing instructional or project supplies
  • Attending PTO meetings
  • Serving as a PTO board member or chairperson
  • Hosting events such as Movie Night or Bingo Night
  • Participating in our Cultural Kaleidoscope
  • Helping out at Field Day (upcoming on 6/17- it’s not too late to sign up)

In this most challenging of school years, here are some other ways that the community has supported our school:

  • Attending board meetings and study sessions
  • Attending the public hearing on 2/29
  • Making public comment in support of our school
  • Making and posting signs
  • Networking with others
  • Providing legal expertise
  • Attending special PTO meetings and work sessions

As a representative of all McKenny volunteers, PTO co-President Collete Paulson was honored as McKenny’s advocate of the year at a district event on May 30th. Her hard work and support of McKenny events and activities that provide opportunities for ALL students is phenomenal.

We have planned an event to celebrate and thank EVERY volunteer on Monday June 17th at 11:00 in the staff room. We chose this date and time because it is at the end of our Field Day activities and that is the date that we experience our highest number of volunteers.

Whether you are here for field day already or not, please join us for our volunteer celebration. And again, thank you for everything you do to support McKenny’s magical community.

Sincerely,

Michael Havens
