Hey McKenny Hawks, it’s time to Walk N Roll! Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll program invites all students and families to join McKenny in celebrating International Walk to School Day on March 11th.
Students who walk or roll to school get a prize!
McKenny is Walking N Rolling to school all year long! Save the dates.

Olympia Junior Programs
The following is the schedule for our students to attend the Olympia Junior Programs at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Students will depart the school 30 minutes prior to show time and will arrive back at McKenny approximately 2 hours later. Please schedule appointments for after school time on these days. Thank you!!

Science Technology Engineering Art Math Night (STEAM Night)
When: Thursday, March 5, 2020 6:00-7:30pm
What: The event will have hands-on science, technology, engineering, art and math activities for families to complete together.
Individual Student Options: Students can submit STEAM projects. Projects will be set up in the gym. Students will stand with their projects and give presentations at the evening event. Projects can be done individually, with a partner or with a small group.

Mark Your Calendars for Fifth Grade Outdoor School (CISPUS)
Our fifth grade students will be attending Outdoor School at Cispus Environmental Center in Randle, Washington, April 29th, 30th and May 1st. This will be a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trip. The Center has been developed specifically for students’ environmental studies and has excellent facilities for both study and research. Cost is $150 per student. If you need to make payments or need financial assistance, please contact Britney in the office to set up a plan. Also, if your student needs to take a prescription or over-the-counter medicine, the medicine and doctors permission form need to be at school by Friday, April 17th.
Spring Conferences
Spring Conferences scheduler in F. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held Tuesday, March 31st through Friday, April 3rd. Student Release time is 12:05. Please do not bring siblings (younger or older) in to the conference. Siblings may read in the pod area or look around at the book fair. Also, AM/PM Preschool will not meet Tuesday, Thursday or Friday, March 31st, April 2nd and 3rd.

McKenny’s Running Club is starting again soon!
Do you have a student who loves to run? Does your student do best with some outside time after school? Are you wanting accountability to walk or run yourself? Join the McKenny Running Club! It’s FREE and open to all McKenny families!
Starting February 25th, McKenny students can meet at the play shed on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 4:30-5pm to run together. Students will complete at least one mile on the marked course each practice, with the goal of trying to run a full marathon one mile at a time! Our final mile will be completed at the Capital City Marathon Kid’s Run May 16th. This is not a drop off event- a responsible adult must supervise your student. Also, it is not mandatory to attend all practices, so come when it works best for your schedule! Spring Donation Drive
Friday March 27th before Movie Night and on Saturday March 28th from 10am - 12noon, we will collect your gently used items as a fundraiser for McKenny PTO. Value Village will weigh everything and we raise some money with our "Spring Cleaning" efforts!! We raise .25 cents per pound on soft items (cloth, linen, bags, etc). SO DONATE the clothes your children have outgrown or that you are no longer needing! We raise .05 cents per pound on hard items (such as books, small household goods).
We need a handful of helpers again this Spring with larger vehicles to caravan all the donations to the Lacey Value Village location on 3/28 at noon. Please contact Marny (McKenny PTO member) at [email protected] if you can help!!
