Walk N Roll - June 4th
Our school hosts a Walk N Roll event one day each month. These are optional days that students can bike or walk to and from school, and once they arrive, can receive special prizes. Please wear helmets when riding, and make sure students are crossing roads safely. Walking or biking to school is not only amazing for your health, but it is also helpful to the environment!
Field Day - June 16
For McKenny's Field Day, all the students participate at the same time, traveling in pairs to a variety of stations for a little over an hour. We then gather as a school for a science experiment in the field, followed by an all school Cha-Cha Slide dance. We cap off the festivities with a soak under the water hoses of the Olympia Fire Department. It is very very busy, and takes so many volunteers to pull off!
If you are able, WE NEED YOU! Check the sign up genius linked below and find a station that looks appealing to you. The location is posted first, followed by the name of the station. You can sign-up for the 12:50-1:25 OR 1:25-2:00 time slot. If you can stay for the whole time (12:50-2:00) please sign up for BOTH time slots of the station of your choice. We will take any help we can get, but signing up for both time slots of one station would be greatly appreciated!!! If you can't make volunteering happen that day, please consider donating a needed item posted at the end of the sign up genius. Donations can be dropped off at the front office.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of your time so that you can read the instructions for your station that will be provided. Thank you in advance, and please reach out if you have any questions!

End of Year Library Info
Hello McKenny families,
Thank you for supporting your children in their reading habits! I have talked with all classes about overdue books and the need to return them as soon as possible. The last checkout day will be JUNE 6th. After that I am doing inventory and the checkout system only allows for checking books in. We will still have class, but not check out new books. I will send notifications to your child's teacher, but your child has had many conversations with me about their books.
If you have any questions, please email me.
Thank you!
Mr. Daray

Parent Survey (Grades K-4 ONLY)
We are excited to be planning for the 2025-2026 school year! In preparation we are asking McKenny families who are NOT returning for the 2025-2026 school year to complete this
form. If you are planning to attend McKenny next year please DO NOT complete this form.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is bursting at the seams with various items that have lost their way home. We kindly ask parents and guardians to take a moment to check if any of the items belong to your child. It's essential to label your child's belongings with their name to ensure a swift return in case they get misplaced. All items left at the end of the school year will be donated. Let's work together to reunite these items with their rightful owners!

McKenny Yearbooks 2024-2025:
Celebrate a year of laughter, growth, and unforgettable moments with the 2024–2025 McKenny Elementary Yearbook here! Yearbooks are $18 and are available for purchase through the end of the school year, with in-person sales happening at the front entrance on the last day of school. If you pre-ordered a yearbook your student(s) will receive their copy during the final week of school.
Thank You For An Unforgettable Year:
The 2024–2025 school year has been nothing short of magical. Together we read an incredible 39,211 minutes during Read-A-Thon, crafted 15 delightfully spooky trunks for Trunk or Treat. We shared laughter across 4 fun-filled movie nights, watched as students brought the stage alive with 2 enchanting performances of The Little Mermaid Jr. in partnership with PNW Theater, cheered through 1 exciting Bingo night, and raised a remarkable $18,000 during our Booster Fun Run. We even found time to come together and strengthen our minds and bodies with Pilates in the gym.
But those are just the numbers, what truly made this year unforgettable was all of you. To every McKenny student who brought energy and light to our hallways, to the dedicated staff who led with heart, and to our incredible families and volunteers who gave their time, creativity, and generosity, thank you! The PTO is endlessly grateful for the hours, donations, and talents you all so generously shared, your contributions are what allow us to soar higher each year.
As we close this chapter we wish you all a summer filled with rest, joy, and connection. And to our Hawk families who are moving on from McKenny, please know your presence here has left a lasting mark. We hope your time with us was filled with magic and belonging, and we send you into your next journey with our best wishes.
Here’s to everything we’ve shared, and all that lies ahead in 2025–2026.
With heartfelt thanks,
Your McKenny PTO

Principals Corner
Hello McKenny Families,
Volunteer Appreciation!
We are so grateful for all of the amazing parents, grandparents, older siblings and community members who have served at McKenny this year. A school runs most efficiently when we experience the support of volunteers in a variety of ways throughout a school year. 2024-25 has been a smooth year due to the help we get from our many volunteers
Here are some of the ways volunteers have supported students and staff members:
- Helping out with projects and student tutoring
- Chaperoning field trips
- Making copies and preparing instructional or project supplies
- Attending PTO meetings
- Serving as a PTO board member or chairperson
- Hosting events such as Movie Night or Bingo Night
- Participating in our STEAM Night
- Helping out at Field Day (upcoming on 6/16- it’s not too late to sign up)
As a representative of all McKenny volunteers, Allison Beattie was honored as McKenny’s advocate of the year at a district Board Meeting on May 8th. Her hard work and support of McKenny events and her leadership of our extremely successful Boosterthon fundraiser, are the main reasons she was chosen. Congratulations Allison.
We have planned an event to celebrate and thank EVERY volunteer on Monday June 16th at 12:30 in the staff room. We chose this date and time because it is just before our Field Day activities and that is the date that we experience our highest number of volunteers. Treats will also be available after the field day activities conclude.
Whether you are here for field day already or not, please join us for our volunteer celebration. And again, thank you for everything you do to support McKenny’s magical community.
