School Bike Challenge

School Bike Challenge -May 1st – 15th.  Students can register by taking a Bike to School Log from the poster opposite the office window.  Bike Maps are available as well to help students get to know bike safe roads in Olympia. Students will log each day they ride to school or to friends’ houses and about how far they ride. Bike logs will be turned in by May 18th. All students who turn in a bike log will get kid friendly coupons, an Olympia Commuter Challenge reflective sticker, and more. All students who turn in their bike log will be entered into a drawing for additional prizes.  May 2nd is National Bike to School Day and everyone who rides on May 2nd will earn a cool button. Fire Hydrants by Parking Lot Entrance and Playground Entrance

Parents when picking up students, whether remaining in your car or parking, please do not block the fire hydrants by either entrance.  This is a safety concern for McKenny.  Thank you!

Cell Phone Policy Reminder

Each year we see an increase of families who have their children bring cell phones to school. We understand the purpose and appreciate that families utilize this tool for the safety of students. Please remember that our school policy allows students to bring cell phones to school as long as they are turned off and left in a backpack during school hours. Teachers or our office staff can also hold them for students during the day if they did not bring a backpack. Students can access school phones during the day with permission of an adult. This policy reduces interruptions in the classroom and keeps our focus on learning. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

2017-18 Yearbooks

Yearbooks are available for order.  Order forms came home with students today.  Price is $14.00 per book.  Extra order forms are available in the office.

School Arrival

Families just a reminder that we do not have supervision before school or after school.  We have noticed a number of students have been arriving too early. Teachers are in meetings and planning for their day.  The gym is open by 8:45am. This is the soonest that students should arrive.  Students should head home after school is out and not stop to play on the school equipment. This is for the safety of your child, unless you are present as a parent to supervise at the end of the day.

Student Meal Balances

End of the school year is fast approaching.  Do you know your child's lunch account balance?  All negative balances need to be paid in full by the end of the school year.

Remember to call the Attendance Line at 596-8403 to report any absences or late arrivals.

The office needs to know as soon as possible. This is a 24-hour recording phone line. Please feel free to call this number at any time that you are aware that your child will be late or absent.

Pencils for Sale

Don’t forget that we sell McKenny pencils in the office for .25¢
